Story
One winter morning, Kyungha receives an urgent message from her friend Inseon to visit her at a hospital in Seoul. Inseon has injured herself in an accident, and she begs Kyungha to return to Jeju Island, where she lives, to save her beloved pet—a white bird called Ama. A snowstorm hits the island when Kyungha arrives. She must reach Inseon’s house at all costs, but the icy wind and squalls slow her down as night begins to fall. She wonders if she will arrive in time to save the animal—or even survive the terrible cold that envelops her with every step.

The beauty of language contrasting with horrendous imagery.
Reviewed: 03-02-25
It was a most difficult book to listen for me. The most beautiful, poetic words describing horrendous images in such a superb way that I felt my neurons lighting up with imagery and light. My brain was on fire. But it was arduous and painstaking to listen.

Full of insight, wisdom, love and hope

I am going to listen to this book again and again. Because Dr Gladys recounts very important knowledge about what life with its joy and suffering, is in this dimension and after transition. She tells us about concepts that I just know are true. Like the inner physician. She had learning disabilities and learned to live with them. She just became a Master for me. I feel cozy when I’m listening to the book. No despair. And what a treat to have her at 103 sharing her love and wisdom. I can’t get enough of her.

Story
It is the winter following the summer they met. A couple, Bell and Sigh, move into a remote house in the Irish countryside with their dogs. Both solitary with misanthropic tendencies, they leave the conventional lives stretched out before them to build another—one embedded in ritual, and away from the friends and family from whom they’ve drifted. They arrive at their new home on a clear January day and look up to appraise the view.
