Story
This volume in a series of world history case studies celebrates the life of the Mughal princess Jahanara—a woman who challenges Western stereotypes of Muslim women. Once bestowed the honorary title “king of queens,” Jahanara commanded significant power in the Mughal court, serving as mediator, confidant, benefactor and visionary. A noted poet, a deft businesswoman, and a devoted Sufi, Jahanara combined practically with spirituality, thereby providing us with a unique window for understanding politics, economics, and religious conflicts mid-seventeenth century India. Her relationships...

This virtual voice is excellent. I hope many audiobooks are created using this voice. However, although the voice is great, this audiobook has been marred by poor editing. In fact, it seems as if no one bothered to edit at all. Isn't there a way to program the virtual voice to pronounce Indian words and names better? Virtual voice has a lot of potential if edited properly. Then, five stars could be the norm.

Story
Raised in a lush suburb of 1920s Paris, Noor Inayat Khan was an introspective musician and writer, dedicated to her family and to her father’s spiritual values of harmony, beauty, and tolerance. She did not seem destined for wartime heroism. Yet, faced with the evils of Nazi violence and the German occupation of France, Noor joined the British Special Operations Executive and trained in espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance. For crucial months of the war, Noor was the only wireless operator in France sending critical information to London.

The author and the narrator are both wonderful. They have brought alive Noor, a remarkable human being. She should never have been sent as a spy though, in my opinion. I'm delighted to have listened to this for `free' with my Audible membership.

This collection of 12 of Parashuram's greatest short stories is a veritable collector's item and a treasure trove of literary gems in the annals of witticism and dry humor in classic Bengali literature that captures the essence of Bengali culture in its most authentic flavor. The treatise presents a resonating train of auditory escapades spanning almost 5 & 1/2 hours of an unbridled laugh riot.

Story
No one ever goes into an argument intending to lose. Indeed, it is no exaggeration to say that every single person on the face of the planet—every man, woman and child—has, at some moment or another, tried to win an argument. Because arguments are everywhere. Whether it is in the comments section on Facebook, or in the Houses of Parliament, or at the dinner table. We cannot escape the human urge, need, and—yes—desire to argue. But arguing itself tends to get a bad rap. It’s blamed for everything from political polarization to marital breakdown.

An absolutely fantastic book on debates. He does not require the adjectives. Mehdi is the top class Dronacharrya of debating. And, I want to be his disciple, Arjuna, rather than Eklavvya. I fervently hope that this wonderful audiobook is also available in Japanese and Bengali, although the chances may be slim, both the above languages being minor ones, with not much prospects in terms of sales for Audible...

Simply wonderful. Great narrator. I wish Jim Dale's renditions of Harry Potter were also as easily available on Audible. And, would this narrator care to narrate favorite books from other countries? I wonder...
Wish list for Mr. Jim Dale.

Great book that I first read on Kindle. The narrator of this audiobook is surprisingly very good. He is very suitable for books on Indian history, and would perhaps be a great and suitable narrator for the following fascinating books that haven't yet been recorded as audiobooks, except the last one whose existing narration is quite poor.
1. India, Empire, and First World War Culture: Writings, Images, and Songs by Santanu Das
2. The Spoils of Partition. Bengal and India 1947-1967 by Joya Chatterji
3. Shadows At Noon: The South Asian Twentieth Century by Joya Chatterji
4. The Blood Telegram by Gary J. Bass
5. 1971: A Global History of the Creation of Bangladesh by Srinath Raghavan
6. India's War by Srinath Raghavan
7. Hungry Bengal: War, Famine and the End of Empire by Janam Mukherjee
8. Train to Pakistan by Khushwant Singh
I hope Audible makes audio versions of these precious books, soon.

Audible should request her to narrate similar books on learning vocabulary and grammar in a fun way for teaching both children and adults. She will make a fantastic narrator of stories, novels and poems, too.
And, last but not the least, I hope this narrator records a fantastic collection of tongue twisters for Audible!

Story
In the weeks after Japan finally surrendered to the Allies to end World War II, the world turned to the question of how to move on from years of carnage and destruction. For Harry Truman, Douglas MacArthur, Chiang Kai-shek, and their fellow victors, the question of justice seemed clear: Japan’s militaristic leaders needed to be tried and punished for the surprise attack at Pearl Harbor; shocking atrocities against civilians in China, the Philippines, and elsewhere; and rampant abuses of prisoners of war in notorious incidents such as the Bataan death march.

This is the most erudite and compassionate book on the Tokyo trials and the unfolding of Asian history, read by my favorite narrator. It helps us to understand those complex times in great detail. Since it is about Japan, a Japanese translation is of utmost importance. I hope we can also listen to the Japanese audiobook of the translation on Audible, soon. Moreover, I hope Audible records audiobooks of the unabridged judgments of Justice Pal, Justice Roling, and the Chinese judge, mentioned in this book. And, my preferred narrator would certainly be Simon Vance (natural or virtual voice).
Ironically, the only word mispronounced is the English word 'diet', meaning the parliament. It is pronounced like a Japanese word written in roman script.
I hope Audible records an audiobook version of another thought-provoking book, The Blood Telegram, by Professor Gary J. Bass, soon.

Story
From the time of the ancient Greeks onwards the West's relationship with Asia consisted for the most part in outrageous tales of monsters and giants, of silk and spices trans-shipped over vast distances and an uneasy sense of unknowable empires fantastically far away. By the 20th century much of Asia may have come under Western rule after centuries of warfare, but its intellectual, artistic and spiritual influence was fighting back. The Light of Asia is a wonderfully varied and entertaining history of this vexed, confused but centrally important relationship.

Just finished listening to this mesmerizing and absolutely magnificent book. He is the only English narrator with authentic Japanese pronunciation, so this sounds perfectly natural. The author is getting better and better with each book. I hope his books are swiftly translated into Japanese and audiobooks are made available in the Japanese language, too. Then, they will be invaluable resources for people studying about Japan or the Japanese language. On the other hand, Japanese people may use them as resources for studying the English language. This book is well-researched and the narrative is fascinating. I was up all night listening to this on the day it was released. Thank you, Audible, for this great audiobook.

Story
This is the riveting story of Noor Inayat Khan, the descendant of an Indian Prince Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore, who became a British secret agent for SOE during World War II. Born into an illustrious Indian family in 1914 and brought up in the non-violent Sufi religion, Noor seemed an unlikely secret agent. Yet she became the first female radio operator to be landed in enemy-occupied France, and refused to abandon her post in Paris in 1943, continuing her work under extremely dangerous circumstances.
