Very Unclimatic Dull Ending

Loved the series and was hoping for everything to wrap up with a big finale. Unfortunately it seemed kind of meander and fizzle like the author suddenly had something else to do and decided he was done. Cashing in, maybe like in the 2 part book he came out with earlier, where you needed to buy them separately. I held out hope, but I think I'll have say goodbye to Skippy without ever really knowing what he becomes or his true origins...

Great Story, Alien Races a Bit Cartoonish

Loved everything about the whole series except the alien races described mostly reminded me of the stuff you'd see on an old 60s episode of Star Trek. I wouldn't equate highly evolved beings with dirty babion type creatures or giant bipedal tigers.

Creative but Mind Numbing

Overall
1 out of 5 stars

I'm all for creativity in a story, which Mieville does superb, but this story meanders aimlessly. I'm almost halfway through and just hanging on hoping it will get better. Aside from nonexistent action in the vague plot, the author insist on throwing in so much "Embassytown" techno jargon, that I'm often left hoping that eventually the author will reveal things, that usually are left for you to figure out or decipher yourself. The narrator doesn't help much, nor does the fact that it is read with a British accent, making it feel more like a Dr. Who episode.
