Story
Writer, journalist and chronicler of justice as it relates to the rich and famous, Gus Bailey, like the movers and shakers of Los Angeles, is drawn into the vortex of the O. J. Simpson trial. By day, he is a fixture at the lawyers, the journalists, the hangers-on, and even the judge. By night, he is courted by the most celebrated hosts, from Kirk Douglas to Heidi Fleiss, from Elizabeth Taylor to Nancy Reagan, who delight in the hottest news from the corridors of the courtroom.

Riveting to the last word!

Absolutely on the money! Word for word coverage of the OJ Simpson trial and all of the “trimmings” that come along with it! From the eye of the storm, Dominick Dunne, who had a front row seat literally! Dunne sat in on the trial and had meetings and dinners with everyone involved from Marcia Clark to the families of the innocent slain victims, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.
Anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together knows if they put just one or two pieces of the evidence together that OJ is guilty beyond any reasonable doubt! This is the story of the trial of the century, told by a courtroom expert who watched as the most obvious obstruction of justice played out before his own eyes! As the country watched, on two different sides, he wrote daily about the goings on. Relating at times to his own pain, as a parent of a murdered child, as non-justice appeared before him.
The account is written as fiction but told in such a compelling way that you cannot put it down for a second!!
The ending of the “fictional “ side of the book is as compelling as the truth of the book itself!!
It is a MUST READ!!!!
TEN STARS!!!!!!

Story
Since 1929, Hollywood’s brightest stars have flocked to the Chateau Marmont as if it were a second home. An apartment building-turned-hotel, the Chateau has been the backdrop for generations of gossip and folklore: where director Nicholas Ray slept with his 16-year-old Rebel Without a Cause star Natalie Wood; Jim Morrison swung from the balconies; John Belushi suffered a fatal overdose; and Lindsay Lohan got the boot after racking up nearly $50,000 in charges in less than two months. Much of what has happened inside the Chateau’s walls has eluded the public eye - until now.

Outstanding telling of the castle of dreams in Hollywood!

I’ve always been enchanted by the old world glamour of the castle that is Chateau Marmont. I grew up in Los Angeles and have been fascinated by the aura that surrounds the Chateau.
This book was so beautifully written in the prose that is fitting of the Chateau of secrets, rumors, fantastic stories and Hollywood moments. I was immediately immersed in the tales of Charlie Chaplin, Howard Hughes, Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo, etc. I would love to go through it all again just to ensure I don’t miss a thing!!
I highly recommend this tribute to one of our nation’s historical landmarks!

Surprising view of Arkin’s life

Loved hearing this perspective of Alan Arkin’s life. Hearing him speak of his spiritual journey was very enlightening. I had no idea of this side of the actor. I’ve always been a huge fan of his work and now I see an entirely different side of him that makes me love the man as well as his talent. What an incredible human being!
Very enjoyable read!
