Story
This is an anthology edition of the Kinsmen Universe, which includes Silent Blade and Silver Shark, plus a new short story. Family is everything. Talent is power. And revenge is sweet. In a distant, future world Kinsmen - small powerful groups of genetically and technologically advanced families - control vast financial empires. They are their own country, their own rulers, and their only limits are other Kinsmen. The struggle for power is a bloody, full-contact sport: in business, on the battlefield...and sometimes in the bedroom.

Disappointed
Reviewed: 01-26-22
This is the first book I had to return. Generally, Ilona Andrews is at the top of my favorite authors list, but this book is not their best with a choppy storyline. The narrator is subpar and tended to put me to sleep. The combination is just disappointing.

Story
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

I usually don't like audio books where the author narrates. This is the exception! Who else could do it?

Story
It is the 14th century, and one of the most apocalyptic events in human history is set to occur - the coming of the Black Death. History teaches us that a third of Europe's population was destroyed. But what if the plague had killed 99 percent of the population instead? How would the world have changed? This is a look at the history that could have been - a history that stretches across centuries, a history that sees dynasties and nations rise and crumble, a history that spans horrible famine and magnificent innovation.

Ambitious, but ...

This was clearly a well-thought-out effort. Bronson Pinchot, did the best possible with so many characters over a lon, long book. Though I admired the concept, by the time I was a quarter of the way through, I just didn't care anymore.

When an unknown someone shoots him and leaves him to die, Harry Dresden hopes he might be heading to a better place. Unfortunately being dead doesn't make Harry's life any easier. Trapped between life and death, he learns that his friends are in serious trouble. Only by finding his murderer can he save his friends and move on - a feat that would be a lot easier if he had a body and access to his powers. Worse still are the malevolent shadows that roam Chicago, controlled by a dark entity that wants Harry to suffer even in death.

Would you listen to Cyteen again? Why?
I am enjoying this so much I will probably listen again while sharing it with my husband. I will be sorry when the book is done.
What did you like best about this story?
The story itself is well done in the exploration of a complex psyche against the backdrop of a hard science fiction future that succeeds in suspending my disbelief (well, most of the time anyway). It does show its age a tad with some of the computing details, but that's OK.
What about Gabra Zackman and Jonathan Davis ’s performance did you like?
I have listened to a lot of fantastic audio books, but this is the best performance I have heard. Gabra Zackman handles voices from small girl to old men and makes you believe in the story. This is the first time I have heard her and I will be sure to seek her out again. Jonathan Davis is quite different form other things I have heard him narrate, but his presentation is perfect for the part his is playing in this book.

I just finished listening to Wonder having previously listened to Wake and Watch. I thoroughly enjoyed each book. These books are not only good story-telling, but the best audio productions I have ever heard. The readers were perfect for each part they played and totally believable. Jessica Almasy in particular nailed the part of Caitlin. Thank you to everyone involved!
