I'm no prude, but thist had too much needlessly explicit sex and rape. I felt it really took away from the other aspects of the story.

Naomi Novik’s beloved series returns, with Capt. Story
The Prairie marks the final chapter in James Fenimore Cooper's great saga of American frontiersman Natty Bumppo. Though nearly 90 in 1804, Bumppo is still competent as a frontiersman and trapper, now on the Great Plains. Once more he is drawn into conflict with society in the form of an emigrant party led by the surly Ishmael Bush and his miscreant brother-in-law, Abiram White. And once again this great man of nature is called upon to exhibit his courage and resourcefulness to rescue the innocent.

I've been surprised at how well the plot from the early 1800s could still work so well today. I wish this series could receive Lord of the Rings treatment as a series over 5 seasons. A bit tedious at times, but I have enjoyed all 5 books much more than I thought I would. Happy to have listened to this series.

An epidemic of unknown origin and no known cure is decimating the noble dragons' ranks, forcing the hopelessly stricken into quarantine. Now, only Temeraire and a pack of newly recruited dragons remain uninfected; they stand as the only means of an airborne defense against France's ever-bolder sorties.

Long Sigh
Reviewed: 07-24-24
It's been two full books to get where we are in the story, and yet none of it to learn the complexity, but rather to live out in real time the passage of the same within the plot. While it is true there were some very inspirational moments, the endless dumping of World Built facts at any given point leave me just as confused as to the whole picture as when I began. I am an idiot, but that alone doesn't explain why - the reveal on this plot is painful to listen to, and I'm pretty much done with this series.
