Story
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

The most charming book I have ever read
Reviewed: 02-07-16
I cannot recommend this book more. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the story. I was an English major in college and have read hundreds of books. This is my favorite. I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator, but the utterly engaging storyline and characters made up for it. Absolutely fantastic.

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Thoroughly engrossing; An excellent audiobook
Reviewed: 03-16-15
What made the experience of listening to The Martian the most enjoyable?
The engaging story. It was suspenseful and interesting without feeling formulaic.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mark Watney. He was an excellently relateable hero and narrator. Very easy to root for.
What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He really helps shape Mark Watney as a character. We're reading journal/log entries that contain a lot of scientific information. It would be easy to skim over it. But the narrator really helps bring it to life in a fabulously interesting way.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I nearly did.
Any additional comments?
One of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to. I would, and have, recommend it to anyone.

Story
This hilarious book has been adapted especially for the audiobook edition so you’ll hear all of the same fun and humor from the printed version but you don’t have to make any decisions or jump around - just kick back, relax and listen. Plus, it features exclusive bonus audio of young Neil delivering an adorable speech! That’s audio you won’t hear in any version of this book other than the audiobook!

Wonderful story; even better narration

What made the experience of listening to Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography the most enjoyable?
The narrator. NPH was a wonderful narrator. Hearing him tell his own story, but with the talent of someone not unfamiliar with narrating audio books made this the best audio book to which I have listened to date. Truly and completely entertaining.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I was disappointed whenever my commute ended, but I was also disappointed when the book ended. It was that entertaining.
Any additional comments?
I was worried about how well the choose your own adventure idea would translate into an audiobook. I shouldn't have. It was done quite well and I did not feel as though I was missing anything by not having the hard copy.

Fabulous Story, Questionable Narrator
Reviewed: 12-02-14
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Hired someone else to do the narration. Not all authors should narrate their own books. It took a lot for me to get past her voice. There was little difference between the characters' voices and it was clear she was not a skilled narrator. The story, however, was fabulous.
Any additional comments?
This story was excellent. It was not the story I was expecting from the cover. The cover suggests a more "girlish" story line, but I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the characters and the story itself. I would most definitely recommend the book. I eventually got used to the narrator, but I have to admit I almost returned the book after the first few chapters and would have had I not become so interested in the story.
