Some really cool facts in a fun way
Reviewed: 07-29-19
I am a huge hockey fan, but not super knowledgeable about hockey outside of the team I follow, so this seemed like it would be a lot of fun. It did not disappoint. There are some great stories in here and the facts are interesting ones. The lists get a little long in audio format. In a book, you could just skim the list of names if you don't really care to read them all, but in audio, they have to go through them. The 15-second skip feature worked wonders on that though and it certainly wasn't anything that kept me from enjoying the book. If you like hockey, this one is full of great info in a fun format.

Ash: I still don't know how it happened. One minute, I was arguing with my arrogant competitor - our usual trash-talk over who deserves the larger commission. But somehow, I went from throwing down to kneeling down.... It can never happen again. I don't even like him. He's too slick. He's a manipulating, mansplaining party boy in preppy clothes. So why can't I get him out of my head? Sebastian: Ash is my missing my piece. She's the sweet cream to my gourmet espresso. And nothing gets me going faster than her contempt for me.

Good characters, believable, fun
Reviewed: 05-09-18
This was a fun story with great narrators. The voices were done well and the acting was totally on point. The story was funny and kept me listening all the way through. I thought the reason they might not make it as a couple (avoiding spoilers) was a little overdone, but nothing that made me like it any less.
The storyline with the ex was handled very well. It was believable because someone being stalked can have very real fears, especially when they can't do much about it.
I liked the main characters - they were fun, made reasonable choices, and were decent people that I could root for.
This is book 2 in a series and I didn't feel like I missed a single thing jumping in without listening to book 1.
Highly recommend!

As Tampa Bay's star center, Mark Carmelo's life was hockey, and after a bitter and public break up, all he wanted to do was focus on the game. Until he saw her - the one that got away, the one he thought he'd never see again. For 13 years, Stevie West drowned in her lackluster life. Recently divorced from her “roommate” with passionless benefits, she was ready to start over on her own. Until she ran into him. The same man she'd met one year ago. No need to be a hockey fan to enjoy
Reviewed: 04-20-18
I really enjoyed this book. I had a couple of issues, but they did not take away from the story, which was well-crafted and a fun listen while driving. Since I arrived at my destination without feeling like I had spent a long time in the car, I call that a definite win.
The female narrator was not my favorite. Her dialogue was excellent, so it was surprising that her narration was almost robotic. It sounded like Siri was doing the non-speaking parts - same cadence to every sentence. But both narrators (male and female) did a GREAT job with the voices (both sexes) and the emotion of the story. So they get a 4/5.
The writing was great. Good pacing, good dialogue, enough hockey for a fan like me but enough explanation that a non-hockey person would have no issues following along. The peripheral characters were fun too. I especially enjoyed the team captain and the best friend. My only issue was the repeated use of emotions being displayed "in his/her irises". Maybe it's just me, but I heard that phrase so many times, it got old quickly. Seriously though, I eye-rolled and moved on. The story was fun and kept me engaged.
I happily recommend this book for fans of fun, sexy romance stories.

This was a fun story with believable characters that acted like real human beings. It was fairly short, but it didn't feel rushed. I LOVED the narrator - he did a fantastic job with all the voices and didn't make anything feel cheesy or overdone. Would definitely read/listen to more by this author and/or narrator!

Story
Bryan Cranston landed his first role at seven, when his father, a struggling actor and director, cast him in a United Way commercial. Soon Bryan was haunting the local movie theater, memorizing and reenacting favorite scenes with his older brother. Acting was clearly the boy's destiny - until one day his father disappeared. Suddenly destiny took a backseat to survival. Seeking something more stable, perhaps subconsciously trying to distance himself from his absent father, Cranston decided on a career in law enforcement.

This story was a little odd, but then that was the premise so it was ok. At some places it got far fetched and hard to believe anyone would put up with the Pact and not call the police or just fight back. But if you let that part go, the story was fast-paced and I wanted to know what would happen next.

Story
Ever notice that sometimes a guy will do something really stupid, like let the love of his life slip through his fingers? Yeah. I'm that guy. But the instant I run into her again I've got one goal and one goal only—a second chance. The plan? Go big or go home. Fine, at first glance, stripping naked at my ex-girlfriend's place of work might not seem like the brightest way to win her heart again. But trust me on this count—she always liked me best without any clothes on. And sometimes you've got to play to your strengths when you're fighting an uphill battle.

Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.
