Loved listening to Sinead tell her own story. It’s a sad one with glimmers of happy times sprinkled throughout. Her awareness of the world and it’s evils transcends most people’s ability to comprehend. She just might have been sent here as an angel. RIP Sinead. And I hope those that were lucky enough to receive one of your paintings do gather together as you hoped they would.

Story
If Elizabeth Ferguson had her way, she’d spend her days savoring good books, cooking great meals, and waiting for the love of her life to walk in the door. But it’s not a man she’s waiting for. It’s her daughter, Rosie - her wild-haired, smart-mouthed, and wise-beyond-her-years alter ego. With Rosie around, the days aren’t quite so long, but Elizabeth can’t keep the realities of the world at bay, and try as she might, she can’t shield Rosie from its dangers or mysteries.

Perfectly captures the shame, anxiety, loneliness, irrational fears and yes immense love I felt as a child of an alcoholic mother. It’s a complex subject handled beautifully by Anne Lamott. Cathartic and lovely to read.

This is a great road map to a different way of thinking. And even if you only take away half of what this book has to offer it’s worth the read!

Story
Willow Havens is 10 years old and obsessed with the fear that her mother will die. Her mother, Polly, is a cantankerous, take-no-prisoners Southern woman who lives to chase varmints, drink margaritas, and antagonize the neighbors - and she sticks out like a sore thumb among the young, modern mothers of their small conventional Texas town. She was in her late 50s when Willow was born, so Willow knows she's here by accident, a late-life afterthought.

Wow! Stories are very personal and this one struck a familiar chord w me. Willow our wise adolescent narrator is a perfect guide to reminiscing about childhood anxieties that shape us, family secrets that change peoples’ paths and the deep love of family by blood and those we choose as family. So many laugh out loud moments too. Can you tell I loved this book?

Story
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

I love the premise of this book and the overall message. I do wish the author had provided more connectedness with the characters. It felt like a quick in and out of each life. The performance was great. Overall well worth a listen.

Four letters “WWII” that will never feel the same

Ruta possesses a talent that is a gift to her readers. Her choice of narrative style in Salt to the Sea is subtle and overwhelming at once. Before you know it you are traveling with this diverse group of refugees and when you do have to take a break from reading/listening they remain on your heart. So brilliant and beautiful is this story. Ruta I know perfection cannot be rushed but please write more.
