I enjoyed the book as a fun romantic novel. I knew the sisters from the other books and was happy to hear the story of PaSalt. I found the writing and the story very entertaining. I listened to it on a long road trip.

Story
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Relaxing read for a beach vacation
Reviewed: 01-27-19
The story was a mystery,. Obviously this is fiction, but much of this was too fantastic and not credible. The reader keeps the same “little girl” voice for the main character even into adulthood, and that was annoying. I enjoyed the book overall. I would recommend it for a vacation at the beach

I really enjoyed the writing. I did not know the story of the Tennessee Children’s Home Scandal and Giorgia Tann. The reader does a fantastic job with voices and accents. A lovely Audible book. Highly recommend!

Story
The daughter of a Burmese mother and a white American father, Alex Wagner grew up thinking of herself as a "futureface" - an avatar of a mixed-race future when all races would merge into a brown singularity. But when one family mystery leads to another, Wagner's postracial ideals fray as she becomes obsessed with the specifics of her own family's racial and ethnic history. Drawn into the wild world of ancestry, she embarks upon a quest around the world - and into her own DNA - to answer the ultimate questions of who she really is and where she belongs.

Boring and repetitive. The author is trying to find her meaning in the history of her ancestors. I do not recommend this book. It is a waste of words

Story
I got into medical school by saying I was black. I lied. Honestly, I am about as black as my sister Mindy Kaling. Once upon a time, I was an ethically challenged, hard-partying Indian-American frat boy enjoying my third year of college. That is until I realized I didn't have the grades or test scores to get into medical school. Legitimately.

I found the premise interesting and read the book out of curiosity. Very audacious of the author to write about his illegal scam! He is a very dislikeable character for sure. Sad state of affairs where different metrics are used for admission depending on race. This is no news, but it is interesting to read the author’s experience. I listened at 1.5 speed but wish I had not paid for this book.
