This was an AI voice, with the flat inflection and lack of distinction between characters. It was confusing to try to follow who was saying what. The tale was weak with a MMC who manipulated the situation for his own business benefit. I would not recommend.

This is an older Jayne Ann Krentz book, but one I have read and listened to more than once. I enjoy the quirky characters and the fact that she doesn’t follow the formulaic meet, love, misunderstandings that break them up, eventual forgiveness for HEA. These characters meet and are attracted, build trust and handle challenges together as their relationship strengthens. I find myself cheering for them throughout the book until the final HEA. So satisfying. And I enjoyed the narration very much.

The audiobook would have been more enjoyable if the female narrator had performed the entire book. She was excellent. However, the male narrator was cringe-worthy whenever he was reading female dialogue. He went squeaky and whiny. It was pretty painful.

Regarding the story line, it was overall a fun, light story with some negatives. First of all, the characters meet when Fawn crashes into Levi when she’s running in the park with earbuds in and her eyes closed. What??? Who in the world runs full speed ahead with their eyes tightly closed? A very forced scene. The other negative is all the F*** usage by Levi. So unnecessary to the character or story. Just makes him look crass, which wasn’t fitting with his character.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, but not one I’d listen to twice.

Very much a Young Adult book, which was not made clear. It’s a coming of age story set in NJ decades ago (think big hair, pre Internet or cell phone). A lot of female emotional angst. Minimal obscenities and sex, minimal development of any character other than the female lead. I felt like I was skimming the surface of a story that could have had so much more depth. Just OK, but I wish I’d picked a different story for my time. Not one I’d recommend or read again.

Casual and frequent F bombs, vulgar language generously laced throughout the dialogues distracted from the story and characters. It’s not as though these are hard-nosed driven cops/criminals or other characters where the dialogue would enhance development or further a story line. The main characters aren’t people I would even want to sit next to and overhear a conversation. I might give this author a second chance, but if another book follows the same pattern I’m putting her on the “don’t waste my money” list.

Didn’t finish this book. I was so turned off by the F word used lavishly as a noun, verb, expletive and again as just a space filler during routine conversations, along with talking about how wet her p*ssy was all the time and how hard she made his d*ck. The readers were OK but somewhat stilted - probably thinking they weren’t getting paid enough to have to read this awful dialog out loud. Now I have to scour my audiobook library to be sure I don’t have any more books by this author waiting for me.

My advice? Don’t waste your time on this one.

Main character had such a garbage mouth that I couldn’t finish the book. I have nothing against strong language when it fits the character and story, but this “high society” woman was conversationally dropping f-bombs, a-hole descriptors, talking about needing a hard dick in conversations where it was a forced choice of words. Basically, I found her crass and unlikeable and knew I had better things to do with my time. I’ll remember this author and skip the rest of her books.
