Story
To most of us, learning something 'the hard way' implies wasted time and effort. Good teaching, we believe, should be creatively tailored to the different learning styles of students and should use strategies that make learning easier. Make It Stick turns fashionable ideas like these on their head and will appeal to all those interested in the challenge of lifelong learning and self-improvement.

I tried the process but it did not work for me
Reviewed: 05-23-23
I went in with an open mind. I listen clearly without any criticism of the premise being made. But after all is said and I have done I can’t help but to wonder if the research and the examples were hand picked to support an idea. For example, it is like saying a gunshot cannot killed a persons. Then I find people who were shot and use them as evidence.
The authors said Testing, Testing, and more Testing would help the information stick. They also said that hard learning is good. Those are some of the examples I questioned. If a student takes a test on a math question he or she cannot get, taking the test one more time would not help. And I use maths as an example because it is a process. A+B=C. If a person doesn’t understand the concept, I am skeptical if Testing would make it stick.

The audio lacks details. Feels like this is more of an overview. Bottom line- if it is your intent to take the the CCSP exam- you will need a lot more than this.

Story
John Boyd may be the most remarkable unsung hero in all of American military history. Some remember him as the greatest US fighter pilot ever - the man who, in simulated air-to-air combat, defeated every challenger in less than 40 seconds. Some recall him as the father of our country's most legendary fighter aircraft - the F-15 and F-16. Still, others think of Boyd as the most influential military theorist since Sun Tzu. They know only half the story.

This book is about a guy who likes to get his own way and when he doesn't he create a tantrum like any two year old. This book cannot and should not be compared to the Art of War.

More political opinionated and less about the study
Reviewed: 11-24-16
Due to my opinionated personality, and the book's consumption of political opinions, I found myself at many times disagreeing and being disappointed with the examples the author uses to delineating some of the topics. The book could have been better if the author put more efforts into using facts. Too political!

Story
In The Blank Slate, Steven Pinker, one of the world's leading experts on language and the mind, explores the idea of human nature and its moral, emotional, and political colorings. With characteristic wit, lucidity, and insight, Pinker argues that the dogma that the mind has no innate traits, denies our common humanity and our individual preferences, replaces objective analyses of social problems with feel-good slogans, and distorts our understanding of politics, violence, parenting, and the arts.

Well informative with little to no substance

Professor Drezner gave a well informative lecture in this audio book. If you pay close attention to his lecture you may realize or questions if this real world facts you can take away from his lecture. If you happen to miss or ignore his disclaimer, you would be very enlightening, but don't be disappointed, he will remind you once again.
You may notice that I gave the book all 15 stars... Because he is honest about his information. Don't expect to any hard facts, only theories... And enough information to shoot yourself if not treated caution.
