I did genuinely enjoy it, and it’s always nice to come back to Generica, but at times this entry in the series feels like it exists solely to set up further books and doesn’t have much of a point on its own.

Cecilia’s plot is reduced to a side story, which is a shame, since it’s honestly where most of the actually important stuff is happening. Note that the majority of the book synopsis focuses on Celia’s troubles, but the plot spends a ton of time spinning its wheels on a basic “Threadbare goes to fight a monster” quest.

In the end, the only thing that is actually accomplished is that all the important characters get gathered together to start a new journey. However, while it does feel like the book wastes time getting to this point, I am excited for the payoff for all this setup.
