Interesting story and characters. Something was missing. I think it was faith. Ending was a little off too, probably the swear words. But I really enjoyed it.

The variety and excellence of the performers made this classic come alive! It is always nice to return to the original source - a truly gothic and gruesome tale told in a truly unique (to this time anyway) fashion.

I could not get the right speed on this one.

Unfortunately, the narrator's voice came through extremely slow and monotonous at 1.0 and sounded odd at any other speed. I really couldn't handle it.

Did Crighton really write this? I just could not get into it. Relistened to first several chapters over again thinking I must have missed something. No, it just was blah. Returning it.

Thank you for this excellent audiobook! It provides a wealth of practical, scientifically and clinically-validated information and guidance for all ages! I have already recommended this to several other parents and will continue to do so. Our children deserve parents educated in how to help them succeed, not just do what has always been done or what we THINK or FEEL is best and assume it is good enough.

Great Story of a Great Couple

While the reading style part was OK, I much prefer the conversational parts that reflect the couple's personality. This couple has a great story and a great message. I can recommend this book for any age, but I can see how helpful it would be to couples who are just starting out in life together. The trials of life and the attitudes and standards by which this couple live are inspirational as well as practical. Thanks to them both for lots of fun TV time that I discovered on my own vacation and a fun audiobook I could listen to when I needed to escape for a bit from the challenge of homeschooling my 5 kids.

Black Sword Audiobook By Kathryn Le Veque cover art

Absolutely AWFUL; someone else must have written

What disappointed you about Black Sword?

I have loved most of LeVeque's books. Someone else must have written Black Sword. There wasn't enough history; just really terrible everything else.

Has Black Sword turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. Not even by this author. I'm believing this is an anomaly.

How could the performance have been better?

More consistency with the accents.

What character would you cut from Black Sword?

All of them.

Any additional comments?

Rapist turns lover is not a new idea, but this one was not well-developed enough and just turned my stomach. The language was NOT of the era, and the conversation got on my nerves. The final straw was when one man called another a "cow's vagina" in medieval Ireland. Give me a break! Definitely LeVeque's worst book. I bet she wishes she had never published it.
