There’s an old saying that if the first thing you do each morning is eat a live frog, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’re done with the worst thing you’ll have to do all day. For Tracy, eating a frog is a metaphor for tackling your most challenging task - but also the one that can have the greatest positive impact on your life. On point recommendations for achieving results!
Reviewed: 09-11-21
I loved the clear and logical presentation of ideas in the book. The book seems to adopt a results-based management orientation, with its focus on defining the desired goal/result and then instituting strategies to achieve that result. All of the strategies identified seemed very relevant, and it was particularly helpful that the author gave the rationale for each and a guide for implementation. The summary of the strategies at the end was particularly helpful.

A must read for anyone hoping to fulfill a dream!
Reviewed: 08-14-17
What did you love best about Shoe Dog?
Phil Knight's story came across as genuine, it did not seem contrived. It seemed that Phil Knight shared his inner most thoughts, moral failings, trials and triumphs with the reader.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Shoe Dog?
When Phil Knight first started to pursue his dream, he indicated that his father stated that he was "jack assing" around with shoes. Thus, when Phil Knight described the wonder and pride he heard in his father's voice when NIKE shoes where highlighted during a particular television broadcast of a basketball game, it was a heartwarming moment. It was like Phil Knight got the approval he always sought from his father and his father seemed to have finally grasped his son's vision.
Which character – as performed by Norbert Leo Butz and Phil Knight - introduction – was your favorite?
I liked Phil Knight's introduction but I felt that Norbert Leo Butz did an excellent job conveying vocal variety, emotion and the central ideas of the book.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Make your dream happen
Any additional comments?
This was a great read. I would recommend this to budding entrepreneurs and anyone who has a big dream to fulfill.

A Candid Account of a Life
Reviewed: 09-11-15
Would you consider the audio edition of It's What I Do to be better than the print version?
I have not seen the print version so any comparison would be unfair. However, I do believe the reader brought the story to life in a very authentic way.
What did you like best about this story?
The insight into the world of a female photojournalist and the perspective on the cultures that the author visited because of work.
What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Miss Gilbert did a fantastic job bringing the story to life. Her mastery of a range of emotional responses really made a difference. It was so authentic that I felt like I was listening to the author recounting the tale.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did not have an extreme reaction. I did laugh at some of the experiences that Ms. Addario related. I also had moments of sadness and shock.
Any additional comments?
This was a very good book. Miss Addario was so candid, some may say too candid but I think that is what makes the book so good.

An Excellent Work !!!
Reviewed: 06-22-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this book to a friend as though it is a work of fiction, I think it vividly depicts the experience of African Americans during slavery, the post civil war reconstruction years and the dawn of the civil rights movement.
What other book might you compare The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman to and why?
As I read the book, I was reminded of 12 Years a Slave. The description of some the experiences of African Americans in the South reminded me of incidents referenced in 12 Years a Slave.
What about Tonya Jordan’s performance did you like?
I think the reader did a fantastic job. Her intonation and inflections were on point.
I could clearly distinguish between characters as her transitions were seamless. She conveyed tremendous emotion at appropriate points.
If you could rename The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, what would you call it?
I would call it "The Rebirth of Jane Pittman". Why? I think that as the book progressed we saw Jane moving from being a passive observer and narrator of the issues/events (e.g. social and political ones) affecting African Americans, to an active participant in the struggle for the rights of the community of African Americans.
Any additional comments?
This was a really enjoyable novel!
