Story
Black Faces in High Places is the essential guide for Black professionals who are moving up through their organizations or industries but need a roadmap for how to get to the top and stay there. Based on the authors' considerable experiences in business, in the public eye, and as a minority, the book shows how African-American professionals can (and must) think and act both entrepreneurially and "intrapreneurially".

Awesome Book for Black and All Professionals
Reviewed: 01-25-23
I really enjoyed this book. Genius leaves clues and the two authors are geniuses in their respective areas. I also appreciated the sage advice on business development, community engagement and importance of faith.
I also thought the narrator did a phenomenal job, I really enjoyed his tone of voice.
I would recommend to all aspiring professionals, and especially Black professionals.

Story
On a foggy summer night, 11 people - 10 privileged, one down-on-his-luck painter - depart Martha's Vineyard on a private jet headed for New York. Sixteen minutes later, the unthinkable happens: The plane plunges into the ocean. The only survivors are the painter Scott Burroughs and a four-year-old boy, who is now the last remaining member of an immensely wealthy and powerful media mogul's family. Was it by chance that so many influential people perished? Or was something more sinister at work?

Just OK, could have used a good edit

I liked the idea of the book and that you aren't sure how it went down and you can appreciate why people would be skeptical. However, the author goes on these Grapes of Warth tangents that are nowhere near as beautiful or poetic as the inspiration. It felt like these random observations and at times lectures could have been cut. Indeed, a good edit would have made a world of difference in this book. Lastly, I would also urge the author to build out the other characters, there was so much material to explore with the television personality, the sister, the billionaire heiress and it feels like they were just given a superficial treatment. Overall, it is ok to listen to, but I would suggest you look elsewhere for a real page turner.
