Story
Two years ago, Gloria Cline had the worst night of her life. A music festival deep in the woods near the Porcupine Mountains turned deadly when Gloria and her best friend, Wren, went for a night walk. Twenty-four hours later, Gloria was found barely clinging to life with a horrific story of being abducted and nearly murdered. No trace of Wren was ever found. Today, Gloria has walled herself into a safe world that relies on routine and familiarity. She doesn’t leave her apartment—ever. But somehow evil has gotten in.

A story both terrifying and relatable
Reviewed: 08-28-22
Based on a true story, the terrifying part is that it did happen, could happen to any of us. Hopefully it never does. The story grabs you from the start and never lets go. I was a cheerleader for Gloria straight through. The ending is triumphant and sad. This is not the first J R Erickson book I read, and I am now a fan. The writing is strong and...go read/listen to it. So good.

Story
When high school senior Charlotte agrees to babysit the Wilbanks twins, she plans to put the six-year-olds to bed early and spend a quiet night studying: the SATs are tomorrow, and checking the Native American/Alaskan Native box on all the forms doesn’t mean jack if you choke on test day. But tomorrow is also Halloween, and the twins are eager to show off their costumes—Ron is a nurse, in an old-fashioned white skirt-uniform, and Desi has an Authentic Squaw costume, complete with buckskin and feathered headdress. Excitement is in the air.

Not in the house, well not exactly

No one is calling the babysitter from inside the house.. It's much worse than that... A really fun read. I highly recommend this, and check out all of SGJ's books while you're at it.

Story
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

I have already started reading the Dean Koontz series. This was a good intro, even after I read two of the books.
