Story
Suffering from severe spinal and head injuries, Rynes knew she was dying. At that moment, she underwent the first of two life-changing near-death experiences - her consciousness split between her frightened, injured self lying on the road, and an impartial, peaceful observer-consciousness who watched as first responders fought to keep her alive. Her second, more lengthy near-death experience came days later, during the surgery that attempted to repair her traumatized spine.

Nancy's experience was different but great

I've read many NDE experiences but this one definitely broadened my knowledge of what goes on beyond the veil. Her experience was different but very eye opening. I also liked that she doesn't promote any beliefs. She tells her story in a way that even skeptics can digest.

Story
James Van Praagh is a spiritual medium - someone who is able to bridge the physical and spiritual worlds. Unaware of his spiritual gifts until he was in his 20s, he slowly came to terms with his unique abilities. In addition, many of his sessions with grieving people who came to him looking to contact the spirits of deceased loved ones are explored. From a devastated mother recieving a message of hope from her deceased little girl to communicating with a young man, killed in Vietnam, who doesn't realize he's dead, the theme of hope and peace in the afterlife is affirmed.

I've always been skeptical about the claim of contacting lived ones. The many stories given in this book, the use of prayer and references to God have all changed my mind and opened my eyes to this practice.

Story
The idea that “thoughts become things” has become a meme in popular culture. It’s held as a firm proposition in metaphysics, and some spiritual teachers ascribe infinite powers to the mind. But are these claims scientifically accurate? What does the scientific evidence tell us about the scope of the human mind to transform thoughts into reality?

Since Darwin's day, we've been told that sexual monogamy comes naturally to our species. Mainstream science - as well as religious and cultural institutions - has maintained that men and women evolved in families in which a man's possessions and protection were exchanged for a woman's fertility and fidelity. But this narrative is collapsing....

Provides a peep into the world of someone who deals with life and death daily. He does a magnificent job comparing birth and death and how the spirit enters and leaves the body.
What I loved most about the book is the author's experience of heaven absent of an NDE and the application of his faith in his daily life.
It's a manual on how to live a wonderful life.
