This book is so important - I absolutely love how it gives the viewpoints of the divers as they discover powerful remnants of the sunken ships and consider the horrible crimes committed on them. It makes archaeology an emotional journey with modern relevance while giving an informative overview of the history of the transatlantic enslavement. Highly recommend

I loved the way this book describes how a misunderstanding of Genghis Khan's role in history led to a fear of Asians in general.

Very well researched with a great personal touch in the afterword about the author's experience in Mongolia
