I’m not a fan of short stories or background music/sound affects- but in this novella it worked just fine.

Story was okay and interesting. Certainly not his best novel. Characters were familiar from previous Camino books. Goldberg has a great voice. BUT she is unable to give different characters their own voice. I had to rely on context to know who was speaking. Much of the time I did not know who the speaker was-very very annoying.

I think I have read most of Sanfords books and everyone of the Prey series. This by far the worst of his books. So much of it was basically stupid.

I am a big Sanford fan, have all of his books. The plot is mediocre. The story stupid. The Letty character should have been out out for adoption. She is portrayed as more of a criminal than the thugs she is murdering.
Probably the worst book I have listened to since my initial subscription. I can’t tell you how it ends because I dumped it 2 hrs before the end. So disappointing and so Un Stanford. I would have loved to return it but couldn’t since I bought with cash😫

Stupid stupid story. Waste of money and more importantly several hours of your life.
Narration was very mediocre, but then he didn’t have much to work with.

I didn’t know who John Hart was 2 years ago. Now I put him up with James Lee Burke as one of the best and most descriptive story tellers on the planet. This novel even bested Redemption Road.
Seldom do I find myself thinking about a book when I’m not actively reading it. This was different- I would think about what had happened and guess what would be next even while doing other things. Could get my mind off of it for days.
As an added bonus, Kevin Stilwell was just plain outstanding as the narrator.
I’m on to finding more Hart jewels in previous writings.
Do yourself a favor and read this one!

Horrid narration-no inflection, no excitement, bland bland bland. Story was worst of Deaver.
I had 2 more Colton Shaw books in my wish list, I just deleted them.

Bought this book on the cheap, not expecting much of a story. More than pleasantly surprised. Excellent story, lots of action, best narrator I have heard this year. Did not get bogged down in a lot of procedural stuff. No real romantic story, no filler sections to just lengthen book. Just a really good story, lots of action and great narration.
Only downside was the final chapter where Cross tried to wrap a ribbon around a good story - not sure why- to give it a conspiratorial ending that just wasn’t realistic or necessary. It didn’t work.

Good story, extra ordinary narration. Having said that, the Irish/Scottish accent may make it hard for some listeners to understand the narrative. I had to slow it down to .9 to catch everything.
But- - the narrator is so damn good at the accents and different voices for different characters, it made it a pleasure to listen to, even if I sometimes had to concentrate on the dialogue.
The story/plot was exceptional - I didn’t figure out the bad guy till the very end.
I have never read a JD Kirk before, but I will going forward.
