Story
In a Philadelphia neighborhood rocked by the opioid crisis, two once-inseparable sisters find themselves at odds. One, Kacey, lives on the streets in the vise of addiction. The other, Mickey, walks those same blocks on her police beat. They don't speak anymore, but Mickey never stops worrying about her sibling. Then Kacey disappears, suddenly, at the same time that a mysterious string of murders begins in Mickey's district, and Mickey becomes dangerously obsessed with finding the culprit - and her sister - before it's too late.

Story
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Lila is quite unlikable but I end up liking her because of Phoebe. An engaging storyline about life, love and the image of marriage. Listening

Candace lost her son. Twice. The first time to adoption as an infant and then 23 years later, not long after reuniting with him. In this heart-wrenching and heart-warming memoir, Candace Cahill offers an intimate view of child relinquishment and child loss, the definition of motherhood, and how two things can be true at one time.

What a beautiful way to honor your son. Thank you for sharing your truth and the agonizing loss birth/ first moms experience through relinquishment of a child. So difficult, whether chosen or not and it’s important to share the truth about the trauma adoptees and first mothers face, as you did in your writing. As hard as it must have been to dive into your pain and trauma from this and your childhood, you have truly inspired others to seek support for themselves. Blown away by the beautiful writing and amazing to hear your voice narrating as only you could.

Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t. They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

This book was an easy read and quite enjoyable, although a little predictable. I love a good love story and the way Annie fell in love with the Saltwater Nook!

Story
Looking at real estate isn’t usually a life-or-death situation, but an apartment open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes a group of strangers hostage. The captives include a recently retired couple who relentlessly hunt down fixer-uppers to avoid the painful truth that they can’t fix their own marriage. There’s a wealthy bank director who has been too busy to care about anyone else and a young couple who are about to have their first child but can’t seem to agree on anything.

Hard to follow at times
Reviewed: 01-03-21
Overall the story kept me interested but with so many characters and the changing voice of the narrator in the audio version, I had a very hard time getting started and following along. I found several of the voices to be highly annoying and am unsure if that was done to develop a sense of the characters? I am also still unclear about some of the things that happened in the plot because there were detailed side stories that went off in many directions about each of the many characters and that may have just been a bit too much for me.
