Story
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

White people need to listen

I liked this book. It shows that we need to be constantly looking at ourselves to see when we are being racist. This book helped me to be more aware.

Story
Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges, and incredible experiences of her earlier years. It includes tales of living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross-country road trip, saying good-bye to her father in a way only he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led her to the successful, happy, and healthy place she is today.

The screaming!
Reviewed: 02-27-22
I did not like the screaming she did. It was not all the time but it was enough to quit halfway through. I would listen with my earphones in & the volume was perfectly fine until she wanted to make a point & get annoyingly loud. I’m a fan of Drew but this was not enjoyable to listen to.

If you are a woman or someone who respects women then this is a must read. The stories will move you, make you angry, make you cry & make you want to take a stand. The way Melinda tells a story is so intriguing & she explains it in such a way that you feel her compassion. I felt like she was in my kitchen and she was sharing her story over a cup of coffee. I will be listening to this again.

I loved it! His stories were interesting and well told. My favorite quote was towards the end of the book "if you're raising teenagers then you are dealing with a toddler on steroids with their emotions" I laughed of course but then he goes on with tips on how you should help them during this stage in their lives. This book is entertaining & informative.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

i liked this book. it was an extremely easy book to follow. this book helps you to understand what it is you care about & promotes you to care so much about whatever it is you care about (family, career etc) that you don't give a f*ck if you upset someone else along the way for your cause. the narrator explains this in a very clear way. Good read.

I loved listening to this story. I was sad when it was over. His stories were always interesting. I enjoyed listening to stereotypes that he had to overcome as well as his colleagues & patients. Also, how some stereotyping helped diagnose someone quicker but at the same time realizing that can hurt the patient too because not every patient is the same just because of the color of their skin. I recommend this book for all races & all classes
