Story
East Antarctica: the coldest, most desolate location on earth. Two-and-a-half miles below the ice cap is Vostok, a 6,000 square mile liquid lake, over 1,000 feet deep, left untouched for more than 15 million years. Now, marine biologist Zachary Wallace and two other scientists aboard a submersible tethered to a laser will journey 13,000 feet beneath the ice into this unexplored realm to discover Mesozoic life-forms long believed extinct - and an object of immense power responsible for the evolution of modern man.

Dr. Greer fever dream
Reviewed: 09-08-24
Ok, so the first half of this book was very good. Reminded me of The Loch, which I loved. However, as soon as the ET and conspiracy theory nonsense started, it just felt like a massive Dr. Greer fever dream. While I enjoyed the sci-fi stuff, it felt like it was just way too much of a divergence from the awesome monster horror/ thriller that The Loch was. Hoping Heavens Lake is better.

Incredible read

This book will have you hooked from start to finish. If you are a fan of police procedural and true crime, you have to give this book a read/listen. Like the author says, some of the things that happen seem too wild to be true, but just as it is in real life, the truth can be stranger than fiction. Some parts sound like they are straight out of a Netflix crime drama, and they are extremely well written. If you're a fan of the genre, or you're looking to dip your toes in, then you've got to give this a listen.

The book was fantastic. I was hooked from the start. My ONLY issue was that sometimes the audio recording quality seemed to change drastically. Keep up the good work!

Story
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....
