Story
Fie abides by one rule: Look after your own. Her Crow caste of undertakers and mercy-killers takes more abuse than coin, but when they’re called to collect royal dead, she’s hoping they’ll find the payout of a lifetime. When Crown Prince Jasimir turns out to have faked his death, Fie’s ready to cut her losses - and perhaps his throat. But he offers a wager that she can’t refuse: Protect him from a ruthless queen, and he’ll protect the Crows when he reigns.

Loooooved this. The world building was exceptional and I loved the parallels to our modern history as well. I found the concept of the magic types fascinating and the characters were nuanced and lovely. So excited for book 2. Narration was exceptional.

Disappointing - stick to her realistic fiction.

I was hesitant about this story based on her previous work being much more romcom and I should have followed my gut. Read like fanfiction, full of every alpha omega cliche and easily solved, easily avoided drama. Lots of plot holes and I couldn’t get attached to the main character or any of her supporting crew.
Narrators were weak. In fact, I couldn’t handle the male narrator to the point that I skipped to chapter 30 after chapter 5 just to make sure I really wanted to stop listening.

Story
Vanja Schmidt knows no gift is freely given, not even a mother’s love. Abandoned to Death and Fortune as a child, she has scraped by as a lowly maidservant with her quick wits and the ability to see her godmothers’ hands at work in the world. But when they demand her lifelong servitude in exchange, Vanja decides that gifts not given freely...can always be stolen. A wicked retelling of “The Goose Girl", Little Thieves is a delightfully witty YA fantasy about the fickle hands of fate, and changing the cards we’re dealt.

Adore this fresh take!

Oh how I loved the world building, the characters, and the complexity of the tale! This felt like such an interesting breath of fresh air after all of these Dystopian or high fantasy read alikes to popular pieces. The layers you slowly unravel and the characters you get so attached to made for a thrilling listen. Narration was gorgeous. You won't be sorry!

Story
Ariadne Hui thrives on routine. So what if everything in her life is planned down to the minute: That’s the way she likes it. If she’s going to make partner in Toronto’s most prestigious law firm, she needs to stay focused at all times. But when she comes home after yet another soul-sucking day to find an unfamiliar, gorgeous man camped out in her living room, focus is the last thing on her mind. Especially when her roommate explains this is Choi Jihoon, her cousin freshly arrived from Seoul to mend a broken heart. He just needs a few weeks to rest and heal.

Meh.

I was really excited for this but the narration fell surprisingly flat for me. I adore Soo's broadway performances but her narration was dull, almost monotone a lot of the time, and her male characters were uninspiring.
The writing as well felt dull - lots of overreaction with little explanation - a character that jumped to dramatic conclusions without all of the logic she claimed to possess. I didn't finish it.
