Story
Squeezed between Colombia in the north and Peru in the south, Ecuador is named for its location on the Equator and has a landscape so varied that it has been described as a microcosm of every microclimate found in South America. This diversity makes it a magnet for tourists, mountain trekkers, volunteers, and increasing numbers of US retirees looking for a warm, culturally interesting, economical, and safe place to spend much of their time.

Great overview

This audiobook has tons of good and helpful information about Ecuador. It gives information about history geography, the current culture and more. There are a few critical comments concerning the traditional Latin Catholic culture which I found judgemental and unnecessary. The worst part of this audiobook is unfortunately the narrator. He's really a good narrator, with a British accent, however he cannot speak Spanish AT ALL. This book is full of Spanish names, places, people, phrases, holidays, and he butchers the pronunciations of nearly all of these words. I would recommend getting a print version so you can see the words he's saying and look up the right pronunciations on your own. I learned a lot of useful and interesting information about Ecuador from this book, but to the publishers, get a bilingual narrator, there many good ones out there.

Story
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Brave Beautiful True Story

Wonderful, inspiring story of Christians im Holland during World War 2 helping Jews even though they were eventually put in concentration camps for it. Then they ministered and encouraged those in the camps with singing, Bible reading and prayer. The book does describe life in the camp, but not in a gross or scary way. It focuses more on Corrie and her sister Betsy's faith and dependence on God and how he sustained them. After her release Corrie Ten Boom went on to have an international ministry, preaching and evangelizing. The sequel to this story is Tramp for the Lord and is equally inspiring.

Better than the movie!

We didn't know it was a book at first. We saw the movie and its waay over the top! The audiobook is a sweet, clean story about the Water Horse and the family that finds and raises him. The children are honest, obedient, and respectful to the adults. The story is narrated well, the storyteller is very good at the voices and has a cool accent.
