This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I guess really immature women who think a man who has money and looks is above reproach and irresistable for those two items alone.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something that is well written and a narrator who sounds older than a 13-year-old "Valley Girl."

How could the performance have been better?

The words she spoke were not her fault, but reading every "TO", "SUBJECT", "FROM" etc. from the emails was mind-numbingly boring. It would not have been a problem in the written book. I could not believe any thoughtful, sane person would think that would be worthwhile information, or that a listener would want to sit through it. At least the verbatim reading of the contract could be bypassed, but it was hard to skip the through the emails.

What character would you cut from Fifty Shades of Grey?

All of them

Any additional comments?

I could not figure out what all the talk was about and so decided I could at least listen to the book while exercising at the gym. I became so irritated with the limited vocabulary of the main character -- "Holy C***, Holy S*** and Holy F***" her constant exclamations. Also, she lost her appetite as a result of just about any discussion.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The book itself was interesting, however, the quick switching between characters didn't lend itself to an audio book, as it took a while to figure out we had changed scenes. That could have been corrected by a reader who would indicate, through voice tone or pauses, that a change had occurred.

Would you recommend The Other Woman to your friends? Why or why not?

No. The narrator was too irritating.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ilyana Kadushin?

I'm not sure, but this narrator ruined the audio for me. First of all, she kept switching the pronunciation of the main character from "Jean" to "Jane." I didn't know until I checked a written description, that the character's name was "Jane." For a while, I thought there were two characters with similar names. She also mispronounced another character's name, though not as much. Most of the time it was "Moira" pronounced "Moy - Rah", which was a somewhat irritating name. Sometimes it was "Maura" or "Mora".

Any additional comments?

I have noticed similar comments from other reviewers. It is really important who narrates a book.

Paranoia Audiobook By Joseph Finder cover art

Phenomenol!

Overall
5 out of 5 stars

This was probably the best, most entertaining, compelling audio book I've ever read, and I've read hundreds. It had everything, combined with Scott Brick's reading, who is absolutely the best, the story grabbed me from the beginning, and never let up. I actually went through a bit of depression as I was coming to the end--not knowing when or 'if' I would ever find another similar caliber story.

Disappointing

Based on the book description, I was optimistic that it would be at least an entertaining story. However, when the protagonist commits a reprehensible crime, I lost all interest. There is nothing 'sympathetic' about this character, and I ceased to care about him. The author's forward mentioned that his publisher/agent advised against publishing this book, and I must agree with them.
