Story
The kingdoms are shattering. A tyrant rules from the north. The Dragon clan, once exiled beyond the edges of the empire, has joined forces with a bloodthirsty, opportunistic king in the south. And the crown prince of Rooks is running out of options to keep the people and places he loves safe. His best chance to save his world and take the crown from his mad father may lie in the most dangerous of those exiled Dragons-a woman who is just as likely to ruin him as she is to save him.

Splendid narration except for one glaring and jarring mispronunciation throughout
Reviewed: 10-10-24
The narrator is wonderfully talented in every respect save one…she pronounces the word “forward” as “FUHWARD”. It made me cringe each time she spoke it. It detracted from the story line and characters. I am irked that the director/producer did not see fit to correct this error.

Story
Jane Yellowrock is the queen of the vampires, and that makes her a target as she fights to maintain control and keep peace in the city of New Orleans. She has enemies at every turn, because vampires live forever, and they keep their grudges alive with them. That includes the Heir, the vampire sire of the Pellissier bloodline, which gave rise to Leo Pellissier himself—Jane’s old boss and the former master of the city.

I didn't want it to end.

A wholly satisfying end to the brilliant series with characters we've grown to cherish, narrated by the one and only Khristine Hvam.

It could have been great. The plodding non-expressive vocal style of narrator RC Bray was a fail for me. Great concepts, plodding narrative. Just could not get into it. I am sorry.

Story
Jane used to hunt vampires, but now she’s their queen. She’s holed up in the mountains with the Yellowrock Clan, enjoying a little peace, when a surprise attack on her people proves that trouble is brewing. Someone is using very old magic to launch a bid for power, and it’s all tied to the place where Jane was first drawn into the world of Leo Pellissier - the city of New Orleans. Jane is compelled to return to NOLA because someone is trying to destabilize the paranormal world order. And because she now sits near the top of the vampire world, the assault is her problem.

A clever, witty take on literary characters
Reviewed: 02-25-20
At first glance, one might think this was merely another version of "Fractured Fairytales", but it is far more clever than that! From the backstories of familiar characters, to the witty prose, to the perfectly droll delivery by the narrators, this book was an absolute delight. The only bad thing is that it is over! More! More! I want more!!
