Story
We now live in two Americas. One - now the minority - functions in a print-based, literate world that can cope with complexity and can separate illusion from truth. The other - the majority - is retreating from a reality-based world into one of false certainty and magic. To this majority - which crosses social class lines, though the poor are overwhelmingly affected-presidential debate and political rhetoric is pitched at a sixth-grade level. In this "other America", serious film and theater, as well as newspapers and books, are being pushed to the margins of society.

interesting insight and almost crystal balling life in 2021. Went a bit overboard with the porn stories, but was still a great listen.

Great listen. I always wondered what was going on in the mind of rock Rakim. He didn't give a lot of interviews, so it was always just a guess. This book gives a lot of insight into the greatest Lyricist of all time.

Story
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

I've been a fan of his for years. I've read Blink and Outliers, but I didn't read this book first. I just got the audio book and listened to it. I listened to it as I drove from Al to Va and it was worth every second.
