Shadow of what??
Reviewed: 10-27-21
I’ll give this review a 4 stars for trying, but a 2 overall. I’m deeply disappointed in Shadow of an Ember. Story was extremely hard to follow, the inner monologue was draining, and the temper tantrum’s Sera threw were exhausting.
I kept wanting to go back and re read FAAB because this is supposed to be set in the same realm but when? Is the primal god Nikos the sleeping god in the other series? Some elements were similar but not enough to actually be from the same realm. Then I kept thinking, is this the prequel- and if so- how? I ask b/c I just could not follow the dang story line.
Also, the use of modern terms was unbelievable. The like ness to modern terminology was annoying and unbelievably.
And lastly, the use of the same narrator was too similar for me. Which doesn’t usually bother me when reading from the same narrator but when it’s a new series you should switch.
That isn’t a dig at a narrator, she was great at what she did, it’s a dig on the author for choosing the same.
I hate that this review could possibly deter other readers. But I need to be honest. It wasn’t the best beginning to what I felt was going to be a great series.

Two men haunted by the same ghost...Falling for "the other man" in my marriage was never part of the plan. Then again, according to Nicolae Ursache, I am the other man, and human wedding vows don't apply. Not to werewolves. Nicolae is a smug, arrogant alpha male stereotype - and I do mean alpha in the literal sense - but when the same people who killed my wife kidnap my teenage daughter, he's my only chance at getting her back. The fact that Nicolae was my wife's rightful mate means that we share a mutual interest in bringing Ellie home.

Just finished re-listening and it was as good the second as first time around. I’m super excited to begin Bleed. I’ve read it already and was impatiently waiting for the release in audio.
If you haven’t read the series do so now!! It’s hot, angsty, exciting, MC’s you’ll hate then fall head over heels for and with a fantastic narrative it’s a win win!! Enjoy

So I’m going to finish the book since I have it. What I should get to right out the gate is this is literally word for word “The World of Ice and Fire”, and I’m disappointed. I’ve read the former book 3 years ago. I own the book I’m re-reading it now b/c I KNEW I had heard this before. So why oh why did GRRM sell us the same exact book with a different title? Am I missing some hidden joke? At 41.00 for this book and more for the hard copy I feel ripped off.

Very powerful scenes were played out in this read. I felt as if I could have been standing on the sidelines watching this young mans life unfold.
I lived in Chicago for about 4 yrs and am familiar with the sounds of shootings. Being robbed walking home, but I also remember the beauty chi town has to offer. I felt both were captured correctly and coherently in the authors words.
I am going to agree, this should be a required read for jr high kids. Especially inner city students who are susceptible to influence, who are growing up abused in horrific ways, and who think this life style is not with out heavy consequences.
My only let down was not knowing his life afterwards. Not an epilogue of sorts, but another chapter in what may have come his way after life without his gang family.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

5 stars for my third novel by TJ Klune! I'm heavily addicted to his sarcastic, flirty, fun and amazing characters! Read, laugh, and be merry lol, while listening to his fantastical tales of love and courage and wild hilarious stories. Also, the narrator is pretty cool in all his voices, fierce drag queens and laid back boyfriends his voice and pace was spot on!!

As far as the actual book. It was a good story, very believable, I could have done with out mikis attitude. Especially during the love making scenes, it came off very a&$wholish!! But other than that, again I was impressed by Tristan and am grabbing the next book in the series!!

My name is Jamie Atwood, and I'm an addict. I never thought I'd say such a thing. Never had a problem being overly attached to anything in my life. I came from a perfectly middle-class family, made good grades, and had a hot cheerleader girlfriend...but the truth is, nothing ever really moved me. So how did a guy like me become an addict? I met Michael Kage. Kage is an MMA fighter. A famous one. I like to think I helped him get that way.

Good except the end
Reviewed: 10-29-15
The book was good, all but at the end. I didn't for one minute think that excluding Jory out of the wedding and his extended family was ok. It was actually disrespectful and all because of the brothers wife? Really. I'm extremely disappointed to read the last chapter. Sam was feeding food with another woman, taking sexually suggestive photos, getting a lap dance and Jory just had to go with the flow. Wow!! Not cool. Then the mother in law says it's ok you two make a wonderful couple...yeah lady what if it was your husband acting as if he wasn't married all because others wouldn't understand or except it. That was crap and truly upsetting as a reader. As someone who invested time into this book and the relationship. Then at the end Sam just says oh stop you know I love you. Yeah she was hot but I like you better?? WTF...
