Story
Free speech is a human right, and the free expression of thought is at the very essence of being human. The United States was founded on this premise, and the First Amendment remains the single greatest constitutional commitment to the right of free expression in history. Yet there is a systemic effort to bar opposing viewpoints on subjects ranging from racial discrimination to police abuse, from climate change to gender equity. The Indispensable Right places the current attacks on free speech in their proper historical, legal, and political context.

loved the scholarly effort with real world examples. I'm not a historian nor legal scholar yet this book helped me grasp an important dynamic of today's divided world, the misunderstanding of what constitutes free speech.

Story
When the US Supreme Court announced its landmark 6-3 decision to take race out of the equation for college and university admissions, it did more than just bring Affirmative Action in higher education to a screeching halt. It also fired a warning shot across the bow of businesses and governmental agencies across America: the days for workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs that violate the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment have an expiration date.

Yearning for e pluribus unum
Reviewed: 12-31-23
My first awareness of Dr. Carol Swain's astute political insights came from a radio interview she graciously accepted concerning the tragic plagiarism of her scholarly work. As a former college professor of nursing who once taught cross-cultural diversity, this book gives me hope. We need to be bridge builders not island makers.

Christianity is a picture of reality. It explains why the world is the way it is. When the pieces of this puzzle are properly assembled, we see the big picture clearly. Christianity is a true story of how the world began, why the world is the way it is, what role humans play in the drama, and how all the plotlines of the story are resolved in the end. In The Story of Reality, best-selling author and host of Stand to Reason Gregory Koukl explains the five words that form the narrative backbone of the Christian story.

Don't have Blind Trust

The writer argues that evidence be necessary, with trust, to receive the full blessings of our Savior for all Eternity. Koukl's patient logical explanation of the sin & suffering in our world today helps us to understand reality from God's point of view. When we know why things are broken and that Jesus is the perfect sacrificial solution, then we truly know, "the rest of the story". This book is helpful to comfort Believers, strengthen what parents must teach their children, and provides an honest simple storyline for sharing the full gospel of Christ the messiah.

In The Return of the Gods, Cahn takes the listener on a journey from an ancient parable, the ancient inscriptions in Sumer, Assyria, and Babylonia that become the puzzle pieces behind what is taking place in our world to this day, specifically in America. The mystery involves the gods. Who are they? What are they? And is it possible that these beings, whose origins are from ancient times, are the unseen catalysts of modern culture?

I liked the style of posing questions first, then reporting sound historical evidence. it is a slow persuasive reveal that permits us choice, rather than "telling". Inspires alertness, courage, and hope.
