Story
World renowned scientist Carl Sagan and acclaimed author Ann Druyan have written a Roots for the human species, a lucid and riveting account of how humans got to be the way we are. It shows with humor and drama that many of our key traits - self-awareness, technology, family ties, submission to authority, hatred for those a little different from ourselves, reason, and ethics - are rooted in the deep past, and illuminated by our kinship with other animals.

Realizations of how all species are connected

Loved it - content and delivery. Such insights about human behaviors and how these are connected. Realization that we are just another species like many others!

Story
Bill Bryson has been an enormously popular author both for his travel books and for his books on the English language. Now, this beloved comic genius turns his attention to science. Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

Remarkable

When I started this book, I wasn’t sure I would get through it… seemed long and also felt that I may get bored. However, everytime I spent few minutes, I knew I wanted to know more. Some if it - initial physics and chemistry took me back to middle school and high school days and why I love science! Later how we became who we are and how majority is still unknown has made me appreciate all people who till now have done so much work in this area to make us realize how precious is this planet and everything that inhabits it! This was a remarkable book read beautifully!
