Story
From the celebrated author of The Secret Life of Bees, a magnificent novel about two unforgettable American women. Writing at the height of her narrative and imaginative gifts, Sue Monk Kidd presents a masterpiece of hope, daring, the quest for freedom, and the desire to have a voice in the world - and it is now the newest Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 selection. Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

This recouting od 2 brave southern sisters in the 1820s helps me believe that all American women can find the strength today to claim and defend the equal rights of women.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Friendship, humanity and survival instincts

Unlikely friendship and struggle for survival made good reading. I loved the development of their communication, demonstrating the creativity that springs from challenge.
Awesome writing, even for a non-SciFi fan!

Story
History chiefly remembers Martin Van Buren as the eighth president of the United States (1837– 1841). He was also, however, notable for achieving many firsts in American politics. He was the first American president to be born a citizen of the country, and not a British subject. He was the first Dutchman and the first man without Anglo-Saxon ancestry to serve as president. He was the first and only American president to have been raised in a language other than English.

Beggars can't be choosers

This was the only MVB biography available on Audible. The narrator's abysmal pronunciation and the poor writing made me wonder if the story was written & narrated by native English speakers. At least is was short. Guess I'll have to pick up a physical book for a legitimate biography of MVB.

Chipstone is about the sleepiest town you could have the misfortune to meet. But then, from the edge of a quarry, through the driving rain, Eleanor is shocked to see a man shot and killed in the distance. One of my favorite light novel series
Reviewed: 10-03-17
This series has a bit of mystery,
historical fiction, and education on Eygyptology. Many social issues are addressed but the books stay light and entertaining. My whole family loves the Emerson's, and the varied cast of characters.
