Great Narration But Story Falls Short
Reviewed: 04-05-19
I found this book to be interesting as it held my attention but I became increasingly frustrated with the actions of the characters as the story progressed. I'm still struggling with the so called reveal. It's just not very plausible.

Story
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

Gross, but not scary.

I went into this expecting to be scared shitless. After all, Stephen King said it scared HIM. No, I didn't find this book scary at all. Gross and disturbing, maybe. The narration was well done and it held my attention. I'll check out more from this author.

One of the guests in attendance will be Amy Lambert, this week marking the five-year anniversary of her family's horrifying ordeal at Crescent Lake. Of course it's hardly a cause for celebration. Still, some unwanted guests plan on attending the support group to help Amy celebrate all the same.

Too much internal dialogue
Reviewed: 06-14-18
I've enjoyed the series but it almost felt like he ran out of story and started filibustering with tons of internal dialogue. At times I wanted to scream at the characters JUST DO SOMETHING instead of going around in circles talking to themselves.

When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic, rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. Yet despite Ludlow's tranquility, there's an undercurrent of danger that lingers...like the graveyard in the woods near the Creeds' home, where generations of children have buried their beloved pets.

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals.
