Story
Just let him go. These are the words Ky Tran will forever regret. The words she spoke when her parents called to ask if they should let her younger brother Denny out to celebrate his high school graduation with friends. That night, Denny—optimistic, guileless, brilliant Denny—is brutally murdered inside a busy restaurant in the Sydney suburb of Cabramatta, a refugee enclave facing violent crime, an indifferent police force, and the worst heroin epidemic in Australian history.

Terrible narration
Reviewed: 11-07-24
I do love the story, but I had a very hard time making it through with the terrible narration. What the hell is up with the breathy whispering voice? It’s so bad and cringy. Super disappointed that it’s the same narrator for book 2 and 3. Will probably not buy.

Story
My name is Rachel Price, and two months ago, I walked away from the perfect man. Sweet and funny, and so hot it should be illegal—we shared one magical night. No names. No strings. I never thought I'd see him again. I was wrong. It turns out Mr. Perfect is the playboy grinder for the Jacksonville Rays, the NHL's hottest new hockey team . . . and I'm his new physical therapist. Oh, and the jerk doesn't even recognize me!

Spicy!
Reviewed: 02-25-24
The spice is certainly out of this world but details of the story is kind of questionable. Like Rachel’s medical credentials - there’s no way she’s 27 and has that kind of professional experience lol. But I guess that’s not the point of the story. The male narration is excellent but wtf is up with the female narration ?? Why is it so staccato? It was annoying and distracting.

Loved the story but the narration is…
Reviewed: 04-19-23
Absolutely loved the story. It was dark but powerful like all of CoHo’s work. Yes there were a lot of epilogues, I didn’t understand the need for it instead of just continuing on with the story. But it was fine, I didn’t mind it too much.
The narration for Sloan was just awful though. The downward inflection and drawn out sentences was very distracting. It was so bad to the point where I disliked the character of Sloan because of it. her voice wasn’t bad, it was just the awkward downward inflection of every sentence that got on my nerves like no tomorrow. Definitely took away from the enjoyment of the story.

But by night, Jo moonlights as the pseudonymous author of a newspaper advice column for the genteel Southern lady, "Dear Miss Sweetie". When her column becomes wildly popular, she uses the power of the pen to address some of society's ills, but she's not prepared for the backlash that follows when her column challenges fixed ideas about race and gender.

Story
With the epic sweep of Min Jin Lee's Pachinko and Yaa Gyasi's Homegoing and the lyrical beauty of Vaddey Ratner's In the Shadow of the Banyan, The Mountains Sing tells an enveloping, multigenerational tale of the Trần family, set against the backdrop of the Việt Nam War. Trần Diệu Lan, who was born in 1920, was forced to flee her family farm with her six children during the Land Reform as the Communist government rose in the North.

Story
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Good but could be better
Reviewed: 04-12-19
I liked the story and the narration was good for the most part. The thing that bothered me most is the performance of the victims. The girl just got her throat cut and stabbed in the stomach and chest but she sounded ...curious? Or a little cheery even. I don’t know, it was kinda weird. The narrator didn’t do justice to how gruesome the crime was. And the first girl he raped. I didn’t know she was hysterical until I was told she is, the narrator made it seem like she almost even enjoyed getting raped? Also very weird. The story did not touch on how the surviving victims actually survived...like how did getting your throat cut not kill you? And what about their long term survival, the story made it sound like they just lead a normal life after the ordeal, but realistically that cannot be true. Maybe I’m just nit picking but there are some elements that are missing in this crime story.
