Story
John Hawkins is counting down his last days as chief of police on the Lone Crow Reservation in the lonely, frigid woods of the Yukon. But when a faceless body with mysterious wounds washes up on the shores of the Porcupine River, he’s pulled deeper in than ever before. Hawkins and coroner Jacob Littlecorn suspect the disfigured body is that of theoretical physicist Graham Raphelson, also known as the “molecular madman of Trinity College”, who recently disappeared.

Disappointing
Reviewed: 06-23-24
Great setting, interesting and promising concept. However the execution was rather disappointing. Well developed characters, unfortunately the story dragged. Also the story lasted longer than it needlessly, possibly attempting to set up a sequel.

Inconsistent and bias
Reviewed: 05-17-24
While the subject matter is fascinating, the lecturer is anything but objective. He treats any Western subject with criticality bordering on base cynicism. He often uses discredited modern sources to belittle his subjects. Any Eastern or especially Middle Eastern subject is treated with kid gloves, even to point of misrepresenting or ignoring unsavory aspects.

Story
Many consider the Battle of Midway to have turned the tide of the Pacific War. It is without question one of the most famous battles in history. Now, for the first time since Gordon W. Prange's best-selling Miracle at Midway, Jonathan Parshall and Anthony Tully offer a new interpretation of this great naval engagement. Shattered Sword makes extensive use of Japanese primary sources. It also corrects the many errors of Mitsuo Fuchida's Midway: The Battle That Doomed Japan It thus forces a major, potentially controversial reevaluation of the great battle.

On an August night in 1994, French counterespionage officers seized the world's most wanted terrorist from a villa in the Sudan. After more than two decades on the run, Carlos "the Jackal" had finally been caged. For years he had murdered and bombed his way to notoriety, evading capture thanks to powerful backers and the blunders of Western secret services. Jackal is the definitive biography of this self-proclaimed "professional revolutionary", ladies man, and cold-blooded killer.
