Overall Boring

The story just became to conflated between all the different flashbacks and aliases. Honestly became so bored near the end that I genuinely did not care how it all finished.

Story
Ten years ago, after a sun-soaked summer spent in Greece, best friends Bess and Joni were cleared of having any involvement in their friend Evangeline’s death. But that didn’t stop the media from ripping apart their teenage lives like vultures. While the girls were never convicted, Joni, ever the opportunist, capitalized on her newfound infamy to become a motivational speaker. Bess, on the other hand, resolved to make her life as small and controlled as possible so she wouldn’t risk losing everything all over again. And it almost worked.

This book was just inane. I really was hoping for more. It just fell flat.
The character development was good and the characters were likable. Other than that I will never get those hours back.

Story
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

I really wanted to finish this book. I was a few hours from the end but it was like dying a slow death. I couldn’t identify with any of the characters and hated all the parents giving up on their kids. Williams parents, William, Rose. You all suck!

I just couldn’t get into it.

I tried this book as it was free on audible. Growing up in the South, I usually like books about Southern life. This one was really hard to get into. I did not relate to the characters and it just fell flat for me.
