Story
In my perfect world I would be selling gourmet donuts, creating art that people loved, be married to my high school sweetheart, live in an adorable dream house. I had big plans for my life once, but nothing was turning out like I thought it would. One day I looked in the mirror and the strong, creative girl of my childhood wasn’t smiling back at me anymore. My aunt must’ve known something that I didn’t, because when she left me her cottage on Sweetwater Island, a tiny spark lit inside me. Could this be a second chance at the life I always dreamed of?

Easy and predictable story but the narrator is terrible especially the male voice is annoying. I had to skip the parts of story. I could not stand it.

My favorite was The Henna Artist and the character of Lakshmi. I did not appreciate the French words in The Perfumist. That was kind of annoying

Back in college, Jane Lewis would have given anything to be like homecoming queen Connie Bryan. Instead she was just Plain Jane - overweight, frumpy, and painfully shy. That was then. Today, a lovely and confident Dr. Jane Lewis has a thriving psychotherapy practice, her own radio talk show, a beautiful old Louisiana mansion, and her affectionate, nutty dog, Olive, to keep her company. The only thing missing is someone to share her life.

Was good advice for young African American girl
Reviewed: 05-04-23
It was a probably a good read at “certain time”. It does not seem relevant in current times and definitely not for all young girls. In my opinion it caters more to the authors own community. I should have researched more on the author and book before wasting a credit on it.
