Story
Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

This book will always be unstuck in time!

What did you love best about Slaughterhouse-Five?
The anti-war sentiment is whispered throughout by displaying the pathetic absurdity of war.
What other book might you compare Slaughterhouse-Five to and why?
Vonnegut is a unique voice, so the best comparisons would be with his other books.
Have you listened to any of James Franco’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Still unstuck in time.
Any additional comments?
I read this book in the 70's and I loved hearing it now on Audible. This would be a great book for someone to listen to if raised to be proud of the military, yet has some doubts about whether any of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq produced positive change. These wars would not have been fought if politicians and citizens listened quietly to the past effects of war. So it goes.

Story
Francis of Assisi is one of the most beloved of all saints. Both traditional and entirely revolutionary, he was a paradox. He was at once down-to-earth and reaching toward heaven, grounded in the rich history of the Church while moving toward a new understanding of the world beyond. Franciscan Father Richard Rohr helps us look beyond the birdbath image of the saint to remind us of the long tradition founded on Francis' revolutionary, radical, and life-changing embrace of the teachings of Jesus.

Rohr does it again--by going backward and forward

If you could sum up Eager to Love in three words, what would they be?
Francis begat Rohr
What was one of the most memorable moments of Eager to Love?
Rohr explains why he, and Francis, are fully Catholic but still quietly disappointed in some aspects of the Roman Catholic Church
Which character – as performed by John Quigley – was your favorite?
Does not apply
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
What I liked most about this book is that it goes back to the Fransican roots of everything Rohr has said in the 20 or so books that I have read by him, yet it also goes forward by helping me understand that on some level both he and Francis are quietly disappointed--but also predisposed not to argue with the Church. Being Eager to Love is a great title for this book. I sense he wants us to do this with each other and with the Church.
