Story
Billy Jay Cader came from an abusive past. Self-preservation forced him to run away at the age of 14. His daddy was full of demons and played a sadistic game in a lottery-type punishment with his boy. When Billy Jay ran from his daddy, he hoped to outrun those demons as well. As time passed, he realized he hadn't been able to flee fast enough to escape them. Now those mental monsters were tightly nestled within. He was the new vessel to carry his daddy's wrath.

This book is WEIRD but good!

It takes a bit to understand who everyone is (because we meet a lot of characters in a short time), but if you can keep track, this is a great read. It's got some weird occurrences that happen, but it's done in such a way you never quite know what's coming next- or what's real. If you want something darker, but great, this is a good book for that.
Enjoy!

This book in the series is a little wilder than the ones before it. It plays a bit more into the terror aspect than the ones before this. It also takes some getting used to with the narrator, because he does not pronounce things the same, which is distracting. Overall, this is every bit as excellent as the first few. the series, but maybe don't expect older kids to read it, since it does get more into the terror.

Story
It’s August of 1850, deep in the bayou country of southern Louisiana. Four good friends are working in the fields harvesting the crops when a sudden thunderstorm drives them all indoors. There’s kind, warm-hearted J. P. Ayo; eager, earnest young T-Joe Lirette; wry, hard-bitten Clovis Dantin; and gentle, easy-going Leandre Naquin.

This story captures your attention in a unique way. Not because it's a "scary ghost story" but because it brings to life the choices we make, and the way it affects our life, and death. The stories presented here will stay with me. Another excellent book by him!
