Story
Shotgun, Texas didn’t come by its name accidentally. In this Wild West town, shootouts are commonplace. Trying to keep peace in this rough place is Liberty Drake, a sharpshooting female deputy who has no trouble holding her own—until she meets Slater Rawlings, a handsome ex-Texas Ranger. As their love grows, Slater wants Liberty as his wife. But he also wants her to give up her gun and badge. Caught between her heart and her job, Liberty asks God for guidance. All the emotions and struggles the young couple face are fully captured by Ed Sala’s dramatic narration.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read this book many times and like several of the author’s other books; but it’s been nearly 20 years since I last read this one. Since then, I’ve married a godly, masculine, and supportive man. The hero of this book does not represent supportive behavior, nor does he know what godly apology looks like. In the words he uses to malign the behavior of the heroin, he’s arrogant and stubborn; but the difference between the two is she’s made to apologize and repent her sin and he isn’t because he’s a man doing man’s work and protecting her. Also, the idea that a man has the right to force his opinions upon a woman’s behavior, actions, and work even before engagement is appalling. There is never a clear discussion between the two where they reach mutual consensus over a major life altering change for her, she’s just accepts it when a major event happens because it proves his point.
I can’t recommend this book as a healthy representation of a godly relationship. It’s bad for women to think that they’ll never have to make major decisions again after meeting a man, which is the overarching implication of this book. The idea that man’s only role in marriage is as protector/provider and women’s only role is as homemaker is selling the biblical roles of men and women short. Whatever happened to the Pr. 31 woman that runs her business, home, and finances?! What happened to the husband that trusts her and supports her in all she does? Both are in Pr. 31, but not in this book.
If you’re in a happy marriage, read/listen for a lark. If you are single don’t waste your time.
I like the voice over. Very easy to listen to, and the editing was top notch.

Story
It seems, yet again, that breaking the Binding has shattered the world. And the only hope of mending it is Anna and Mátyás working together. But it's never that simple, is it? The praetheria, the creatures once held captive by the spell, are now waging war against the Austro-Hungarian empire. And they are holding Noémi hostage - using her life to manipulate Anna and Mátyás, like marionettes on a string.

I purchased the entire series. The storytelling is phenomenal. The narration from both narrators was brilliant. I wish Ms. Eves would write a new series because it has been such a long time since I found a series I fully enjoyed. Ms. Eves’s ability to twine history and legend is fabulous.

Story
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....
