Easy read
Reviewed: 06-04-20
This is a pretty easy read. There were no plot twists, nothing real dramatic. Had no problems following the story line. Could even be described as a bit boring. Not a bad story if just looking for an easy read. Not a great conversation book if you're looking for a conversation starter for a book club.

Train wreck
Reviewed: 06-04-20
This story is awful.... like absolute train wreck kinda awful.
It's one of those books you just can't put down because you can't believe it's true and you want to know what comes next. And then you keep reading because you're thinking "it can't possibly get worse" but then it does. Needless to say I yelled at this book a lot! There was definitely a lot to talk about. If you're looking for a good conversation book over a book club, this is a good pick!
Embrace the crazy!

Confusing
Reviewed: 06-04-20
The story was good, once you're able to follow it. There is a lot of jumping back and forth between now and then. I was confused for most of the book until the characters finally clicked. I thought the ending could have been better. All in all I thought it was a "just ok" book. Not sure I would recommend.

Awful.... but makes you think
Reviewed: 06-04-20
The story itself is awful.... like a train wreck you can't look away from. The story itself is well written and an odd twist having it narrated from the grave. A lot of things in this story that really make you think about how you would react if put in the same situation. We all hope we would be better, but we never really know until we're put in that situation. I pray I never have to find out. It's a good story, the ending is a bit week. I would still recommend.

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

The story sticks with you.
Reviewed: 06-04-20
It's one of those books where the story sticks with you even after you're done. This is when I know it's a good one! I didn't think I would at first with the fake twang, southern accent the narrator used, but eventually I adjusted and was able to focus on the story line. I had a bit of struggle with the bouncing back and forth between the years, but it all works itself out the more you listen. The story itself is very well written and laid out. I fell in love with Kya's character and all that she survived through and came out stronger in the end. People really underestimated her! I would read it again and again. Highly recommend!

It's ok
Reviewed: 02-26-20
The book overall was just ok. It keeps you guessing a bit throughout, more along the lines of "Why would anyone do that" when they had so many chances to "make it right." And then the story just ends, there is no closure. It's like the author got bored and just decided to stop writing. The ending was horrible!
