Narrator very good, doing a lot of voices as story has many characters. Story much weaker than its prequels. No real story with a conclusion, just a year in the life of. Also bit too long

Very nice way of describing every day life and troubles of a Dutch/Enlish business man in NYC. O’Neil has a Hemingway ease of the pen which makes it a pleasant read. Great narrator also

If you are looking for a easy readable historical novel that gives you insights on judaic culture and history from an american perspective, this is your book. If that is not specifically your interest, like me, I would not recommend it.

One of the better Booker prize winning novels I read! Several layers make the story compelling at various stages in the book.

This is a great and epic novel for those who like fantasy. From minute one the story grasps you. You hear the life story of the main character that led an adventurous and magical life. The narrator, Rupert Degas, has a wide repertoire of voices and a warm timbre that embraces you and doesnt let go until the end. Great book and great recording!

I find the story line rather shallow and cliche. Love the genre but this definitely wasnt my kind of book.

This is one of the few best sci-fi books I read. Definitely recommend it! Nice voice cast also, so pleasure to listen. Won lots of prizes. Therefore a must read (and a want to read) classic!
