Story
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

I’m half way through but I have to write a comment to counter some of the one star reviews. For those that wrote that women just didn’t think that way in the 1950s I counter that some (perhaps quite a few) did.
For those that bemoaned the depiction of “Christian” people, I offer that instead of taking umbrage, recognize that 1) those type of people exist and 2) perhaps they do not represent all Christians.
Again, I cannot comment about the totality of this book, but before purchasing I did read the reviews (as many do). The negative comments seem (at least at this point in my reading), hypersensitive and not in keeping with a modicum of historical accuracy.

Great listening!

I’m not an Egyptologist. I’m a lowly attorney who has nothing to do with this topic.
But I’ve listened to 90% of this podcast and I find it amazing!
The man knows his stuff! And it is presented so even I understand it. I look forward to each episode.
I appreciate all the work that goes into each chapter and I look forward to what happens next.

Story
Christmas is approaching, and in Québec it's a time of dazzling snowfalls, bright lights, and gatherings with friends in front of blazing hearths. But shadows are falling on the usually festive season for Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. Most of his best agents have left the Homicide Department, his old friend and lieutenant Jean-Guy Beauvoir hasn't spoken to him in months, and hostile forces are lining up against him. When Gamache receives a message from Myrna Landers that a longtime friend has failed to arrive for Christmas in the village of Three Pines, he welcomes the chance to get away.

I have loved ALL Ms. Penny’s books, but this one has been wonderful! It not only continues story points started earlier but keeps you on edge.
I regret that I have missed some books because AUDIBLE does NOT include them in their library. There are others (less than three hours) that would require the use of an entire credit (sorry, ain’t gonna happen).
I realize giving such a glowing review so far into the series probably won’t sway many people. But I hope that the author, on a very, very, dull day, reads some of the comments and realizes just how engaging her books are.

Cut and Paste version will disappoint!!

Title is misleading
Reviewed: 03-18-18
I read the previous reviews only after purchasing this series. I was OK with the idea that the individual lectures were taken from other courses. What I was not OK with was that there was no discussion about HOW these books “changed the world”. I was hoping for a discussion about the book’s author, the content, and an exploration of the book’s impact. This didn’t happen. Of course with any list, people will disagree about what should be included, but Ben Franklin’s autobiography is a tome that “changed the world”? Some lectures are better than others, but do not go into this thinking you’ll learn about the impact of the selected titles.
