Story
There are people in Edgewater, Oregon, who think that twenty years ago, Rachel Gaston got away with murder. But Rachel still has no idea how a foolish teenaged game turned deadly - or who replaced her soft pellet air gun with a real weapon. When a figure jumped out at her from the darkness, she fired without thinking. By the time she recognized her half-brother, Luke, it was too late.

Who is Lisa Jackson always this bad(spoilers)

I am not sure if I’ve ever seen a main character that I dislike as much as I as disliked Rachel. Never have I heard, as one review were already noted, so many weak, frantic, and hyperventilating women. That was almost as bad, as narrators that whistle through their teeth, as they read.I could have cared less if Cade and Rachel reunited, felt no chemistry between the two. What kind of wife, drops a husband, because after he was nearly fatally wounded, she sees his partner holding his hand?!!! Seems to me she had no investment in their marriage at all. Now on the rotten kids. What can you say about them, nasty little brats that need a good butt whipping. Only part interesting was Lilah’s little flip to nastiness at the end.

Story
A marriage is what you make it, isn't it? It's what you put into it. It's not just about love; it's about understanding another person's point of view. Sometimes there are things you find out about yourself and each other, which means the marriage has to end. Sad, particularly when kids are involved - but all pretty normal. Normal, that is, until there's a murder.

Irritating narration, incompetent detectives.

With a narrator that was beyond, claw my eyes out, irritating, detectives that couldn’t solve a crime even if the whole thing was on video, this was an extremely painful listen. Jane and Mike both grated on my nerve endings in this book. Jane’s lack of gratitude for her mother, that was at her beck and call twenty-four hours a day, her inability to resist a man that abandoned his child and her for 8 years made her very unlikable. Then there was Mike what was with his constant undermining of Jane’s leadership. He’s the one that put her in that role. I know they were trying to show he was suffering PTSD from Sarah’s murder and Jane’s near murder, but it just came off wrong.

Best audible I have listened to in a while. Narrator was good, except the kid voice. Don't do kid voices, just speak normal! I have never heard a single narrator that can do a good kid voice.
