Story
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Love it so far

I’ve done half now, but so far, it’s perfect. From the start it grips me, and keeps that hold. Love the whole skeleton of the story, sad it’s gonna finish soon. Great recommend for Grade 7 boy.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

AMAZING BOOK!

I loved this book, it made me believe that there are people out there who can make unbelievable things come true. Louis Zamperini is one of those people. He endured so much especially under torture from “the bird”, but he held on, and made it to the end. He is a role-model for all, and I really want to say thank you to Laura Hillenbrand for writing this book to tell us listeners/readers what some human beings can be like…💗

I enjoyed listening to this book soooo... much. It made my bones creak! Still, I was so fascinated by this book that I can’t wait to find out what will happen to Coke and Pepsi McDonald in Dan Guatman’s “The Genius Files, Book 5”.

This book was completely fascinating. It really got me when Coke and Pepsi McDonald realized that their sypher-sender and assassin was their own aunt, Aunt Judie! What an amazing plot! I am looking forwards to listening to the amazing author and story-teller,Dan Guatman’s, next book (The Genius Files, Book 4).
