Story
My little girl’s room is dark. Her bed is empty. I turn on her unicorn nightlight and bury my face in her pillow, my heart breaking. I know who did this. His name is Samuel Barlow. He has pale sallow skin and red-rimmed icy-blue eyes. But no one will listen. As darkness falls and rain lashes against the window, there’s a knock at my door and I open it to see those same eyes staring back at me. It’s his mother and she says she can help me find my daughter.

As good as any mystery novel

I enjoyed this book. Title and description kept me from trying it for awhile because is sounded like so many of the mediocre British novels floating around Audible Plus, but it was 5 stars.

Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January—and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

Written for a YA audience? If so, inappropriate!
Reviewed: 09-05-22
All I could think when reading this book, is this a YA novel? If so, maybe it slightly inappropriate. In any case, the writing was basic and plot predicable. If a YA novel, it was Okey, is the targeted reader is adults who have read a few mysteries, it was disappointing.

Awful writing and wrong narrator.
Reviewed: 05-16-18
This narrator should be doing romance novels. Dreamy voice but totally wrong for the part.., but the writing was terrible. Imagine you wrote a novel in high school...yep. That bad.

Worse choice of Narrater EVER
Reviewed: 12-30-17
Why would the producer of this production choose a narrater with a British accent of a Chicago FBI agent? She mispronounces names of places and words, it was distracting and infuriating. I finally just stopped listening to a very good story.

Story
When acclaimed Washington Post writer Wil Haygood had an early hunch that Obama would win the 2008 election, he thought he'd highlight the singular moment by exploring the life of someone who had come of age when segregation was so embedded in the culture as to make the very thought of a black president inconceivable. He struck gold when he tracked down Eugene Allen, a butler who had served eight presidents, from Harry Truman to Ronald Reagan. Forest Whitaker narrates the story of this remarkable man who, while serving tea and supervising buffets, was also a witness to history.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
It seemed this book was really just an advertisement for the movie. It was not enjoyable. Felt cheated by wasting a credit.

What did you like best about Here I Go Again? What did you like least?
Maybe it is a good story, maybe not... unless I buy the print version I will never really know as I couldn't listen to you Jen.
Maybe it is because the narrator of your other books was good, maybe it was you were only bad in comparison.
Hey, I have always liked your writing in the past. Maybe just spend the bucks and get a good narrator.
