Story
When a Category 5 hurricane is poised to hit their coastal Florida town, the Davies family takes refuge in their waterfront manse. Marlowe, Lee, and their teenage twins invite their close friends to wait out the storm in comfort and style. Uninvited are the three strangers who dock on the family’s shore right before the storm descends. Brothers Jason and Bo—and Bo’s girlfriend, Darcy—are a charming, helpful trio in need of a safe haven that the Davies are only too happy to provide. But as the storm outside grows more threatening, so does the tension in the house.

Not worth the time

The annoying repetition of facts that were not that important. The absurdly dumb the characters behaved. It was drawn out longer than needed, each characters take was poorly presented and took away from the flow of the story. That said it was a huge disappointment.

This was not near a s good as it sounded, and I have read others by this author, but this went from bad to stupid. Poor decisions from 'smart' people,. Just couldn't stand the premise. And if it is only book 1, I can't imagine how it would end and leave you hanging.... So gave up half way through.

It was interesting to read this book after I’ve read so many others so the only thing that’s a little interesting that I can’t quite follow is why they named the girls summer in this book when his sister is summer that we’re going to meet later other than that, pretty interesting

Story
Seven years ago, Miles Pussett was a steeplechase jockey, loving the rush of the race. But after an unfortunate event, he left horseracing behind and swore he would never return. Now he gets his adrenaline rush from riding headfirst down the Cresta Run, a three-quarter-mile Swiss ice chute, reaching speeds of up to eighty miles per hour. Finding himself in St Moritz during the same weekend as White Turf, when high-class horseracing takes place on the frozen lake, he gets talked into helping out with the horses. Against his better judgement, he decides to assist.

Although the story was intriguing. Too much whining and mental health issues to make it as good as Dick would have written. And slow at getting to the point and a bit confusing when jumping between present and past

Broke, almost homeless, and recently fired. Those are my official reasons for answering a wanted ad for a skeevy-looking bartender gig. It went downhill the moment they asked me to do a trial shift instead of an interview - to see if I'd mesh with their "special" clientele. I think that part went great. Their customers were complete dickheads, and I was an asshole right back. That's the definition of fitting in, right? I expected to get thrown out on my ass. Instead, they...offered me the job?

Not what I expected
Reviewed: 11-23-22
It was a bit disappointing. They made way too much about special effect noises and too much downtime, and after being an audiobook listener for about 20 years, it was very disappointing to listen to something that they relied on sound effects, and the story was OK but too much interference with different voices and again the sound effects trying to make up for no description about what was going on.When you’re listening to something, I want to hear what it is that I’m trying to see in my minds eye with words not with sounds.

The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.
