Story
It is called Crota...and it has awakened. Sheriff Skip Harding is called out to investigate a double homicide unlike any he has seen before. The bodies have been torn to pieces in the woods. Some think it's a bear. But others whisper something different. "It is the Crota," they say, - the great beast of Native American legend that one day will reawaken. Now that day has arrived.

I liked it

It was a fun book, but not all that scary not all that exciting for me. The author does a good job making fun dialogue with characters, but maybe not as good a job making me care about the characters.
That kind of makes it hard for me to even consider this a horror book or a thriller, while it was entertaining certainly, I just didn’t really get the excitement I was looking for here.
Loved the narration though, very relaxing, and not too distracting, with some fun voices thrown in here and there to make distinguishing characters a little easier.

Story
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Loved this book

I was a bit unsure of this book at the start, but god the way it developed over time was suuuuper fun. Jason is such a clever MC which makes the obstacles he overcomes super satisfying to hear.
The lore of the world was incredibly interesting and I appreciate the world building that must have gone into it, and the political element Jason finds himself navigating as he progresses was just so fun, and thankfully easy for the reader to follow. Loved this book, would recommend.
