How does Stephen Fry do it? The pantheon of Greek Gods was never boring to me, but could be confusing and WAS bizarre and alien. Fry has made it so...Human.

This is a man who knows his subject so well that he can play with it, adding bits of cosmological physics and a Monty Python reference about cheese, yet still teach us about pounds, shillings and pence as well as the labyrinthine origins of these mythic beings.

The enchantment began immediately for me because I forgot to consider who was doing the reading. After only a few minutes of listening to his voice my parasympathetic nervous system to kicked in, slipping me gently into dreams.

For anyone who is interested in comparative religion or ancient civilizations; for anyone who ever was soothed to sleep by hearing a bedtime story, to anyone who has appreciated Fry's previous works... I truly believe that you'll enjoy hearing the early Greek stories of how it all began.

Wished only that it had been longer. Mr. Nimoy gave a very nuanced narration of this darkly humorous story of desperation and alienation.

I specifically bought the Audible edition because, not surprisingly, Trevor Noah narrated his own story. I admired him long before I saw him on The Daily Show, having seen him on British TV. And I knew he was from South Africa. But this autobiographical account of his childhood as an alien in an institutionally hostile land was a bit of a shocker. I knew how cruel apartheid was. And I know, especially under our current administration, how people in power strategically label people in order to abuse and dehumanize them. Well, I THOUGHT I knew. Mr. Noah lived it and survived to tell about it in this sometimes humorous, mostly heartbreaking story of everyday life in a place where most lives are held as cheap, cheaper and worthless. It's a revelatory book about a remarkable man, and it's a cautionary tale for those of us who think that we are now and always will be free from that sort of repressive and immoral national policy.

Great character development all throughout the series. Clive Chafer does a wonderful job. I always know who's speaking.

Thanks for this series, Colin. You may be getting tired of them but I never will.

And more 'Jimm Juree' please. Her series is a hoot! Kim Mai Guest is a wonderful 'Jimm'!
