Story
While Spartans get all the glory, no soldier - not even the legendary Master Chief - wins a war on his own. Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck and his team of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs) played a major role in saving the Earth from all-out invasion at the end of the Covenant War - acts of bravery and ingenuity that did not go unnoticed by the United Nations Space Command.

history of thw covenant and a great story

For a book being about an alien culture in a sci fi world this is a great story about how the covenant came to be and the fallout of its destruction

awsome story! but some dated lore
Reviewed: 03-07-21
the orgin story of the spartans has so much to cover and so i love any books that do. The narrorator is good and moves at a good pace
SPOILER
the dated lore comment is about that on reach 25 years into the war is the first time the spartans meet elites and hunters? not by current canon. And of course that fact that alot of spartans survived reach despite the implication they died. same with linda being on the pillar of autumn

Story
2526. It has been more than a year since humanity first encountered the hostile military alliance of alien races known as the Covenant, and several weeks after the United Nations Space Command’s devastating counterattack of Operation: SILENT STORM was deemed an overwhelming success. The UNSC has put its faith in the hands of the Spartans, led by the legendary Master Chief, John-117: enhanced super-soldiers raised and trained from childhood via a clandestine black ops project to be living weapons.

really good just slightly slower in world conflict
Reviewed: 07-01-20
that books was great and I really enjoyed the voice actor just wasn't as world building as the last book, this one beside the first few chapters all took place in essentially one day were as silent storm was multiple events over weeks if not months. Again it was a fun and great read and would listen again just different.
